February 13th to the 17th is National FCCLA Week. General Brown FCCLA has been holding a Spirit week to honor this tradition.
FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. We focus on leadership development and community service. These skills are based on skills learned in Family and Consumer Sciences classes. This year the chapter is the largest it’s been in 8 years since it was reinstated with 32 affiliated members.
This year we have participated in 4 National Programs including Student Body, Power of One, Families First, and Community Service. Community Service is our biggest focus. To date this school year we have collected over 2,500 individual items to be donated to the following places:
- 45 period poverty kits to Happy Period North Country
- 42 fleece blankets to Child and Protective Services of Jefferson County
